Commonwealth Tourism Ministers' Meeting 2004 Stamp

Commonwealth StampThe Government of Malaysia has been given the honour to host the 1st Commonwealth Tourism Ministers Meeting in Kuala Lumpur on the 18th to 21st March 2004. This meeting is being endorsed and supported by the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. It has also been endorsed by Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit held in Nigeria recently.

The ministerial meeting will take place on 20th to 21st March 2004 and it will be preceded by Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) on 18th to 19th March 2004. The main objective of the Ministerial Meeting, among other things is to address issues related to the travel and tourism industry and in the promotion of Intra-Commonwealth travel.

Commonwealth First Day CoverThe Ministerial Meeting will therefore provide an excellent opportunity in bringing together tourism ministers from member countries and other tourism players to share their experience, exchange ideas and discus ways to establish cooperation in the field of tourism.

The 1st Commonwealth Tourism Ministers Meeting will certainly give the necessary impetus towards building a strong foundation for the development of the tourism industry among the Commonwealth members.

Malaysia is proud to be the host nation for the 2004 Commonwealth Tourism Ministers' Meeting. Golf, in line with its status as a pretsigious sport, welcomes the arrival of the delegates from the Commonwealth to Malaysia.
